Veracel Station RPPN is home to a rich vertebrate fauna, keeping most of the original biodiversity in spite of the large deforestation occurred in the region. To the moment, over 440 vertebrate species have been identified in the region, 37 of them are endangered species and 54 are endemic to the Atlantic Forest in southern Bahia.
Among the identified species, many are of particular conservation interest as they are rare, endangered, endemic or even new to science.
