The Veracel Station RPPN Management Plan includes four programs: Administration, Research, Public Use and Protection. The plan was revised last March in partnership with the NGOs Conservation International and Instituto Bioatlāntica.

Administration program

The program approaches the activities and standards regarding the organization, management and human resources required for the effective operation of the conservation unit, as well as the supervision of the reserve's management and handling activities.

Research program

The research program aims at encouraging the generation of knowledge on the Atlantic Forest biodiversity through partnerships with NGOs, research institutes and universities.

Veracel Station RPPN offers a research center with facilities to receive 12 people. It also has two laboratories for the preparation of samples.

Public use program

The Public Use Program aims at organizing, guiding and directing the unit use by the public, with no significant alteration of the natural resources. It consists of the following sub-programs: Sub-program of Interpretation and Recreation; Sub-program of Environmental Education; Sub-program of Qualification; Sub-program of Public Use Supervision, and Sub-program of Trail Maintenance.

The strategy of the Sub-program of Recreation and Environmental Interpretation is the promotion of pre-scheduled visits. The target public consists of students from elementary and high schools, universities and colleges, groups from the community and employees, as well as corporate visits.

The visits include lectures on the activities developed at the reserve, infrastructure, management program, biodiversity, among others. Next, the visitors have the opportunity to enjoy an experience in the Atlantic Forest by touring a trail in the forest accompanied by monitors. From the trails the visitor can feel the importance of the Atlantic Forest, its dynamism and richness, in a real hands-on class, learning about the ecosystems and the relations of the animals, plants, soil, air, water and ourselves, the human beings. Techniques for living with nature are also experienced along the tour, with dynamic sessions such as "What animal Am I?"; "Find Your Tree"; "Predator and Prey"; and "Crows and Owls".

Protection program

The Protection Program aims at ensuring the biodiversity conservation, as well as protecting the historic and cultural patrimony and landmarks existing within the Veracel Station RPPN.

The physical protection consists of six environmental guards, a monitor and an environmental technician, who are the responsible for the program.

The surveillance emphasizes 17 blocks which have been established to protect the Veracel Station RPPN along the borders of the reserve. The patrol is carried out every day. In addition, the team keeps fire lines (paths) around the property aiming at facilitating the surveillance activity and protecting the area from wildfires.
