The planting system adopted by Veracel is the “mosaic landscape.” In this system, the eucalyptus trees are grown only on plateaus, with the hillsides and valley bottoms reserved for Atlantic Forest remnants. This process makes it possible to connect up a number of forest areas and fosters the recovery of the biodiversity, which has been significantly damaged from decades of irrational exploitation of the native forest.
Our plantations are entirely made up eucalyptus clones of obtained from the crossing of Eucalyptus grandis and Eucalyptus urophylla species. This selection ensures average annual productivity of 51 m3/ha/year, a pulp yield of about 53% and wood density of some 506 kg/m3.
