Veracel opens 3,460 positions for professional courses in construction - 07.07.03
Registration of candidates for professional training courses in construction techniques for the new Veracel pulp mill is now taking place. During the first phase some 3,460 places are being offered, encompassing professional retraining of construction workers, including foremen, carpenters, ironworkers, stonemasons, plumber-installers, electrician installers and painters. The courses will begin as of July 14 with preference given to residents of the nine municipalities in Veracel's area of influence.
Interested candidates can sign up in offices of the Secretary of Labor and Social Action (SETRAS), a Bahia government agency, located in Eunápolis and Porto Seguro, or at the city halls of Belmonte, Canavieiras, Guaratinga, Itabela, Itagimirim, Itapebi and Santa Cruz Cabrália, where SETRAS representatives will be available to conduct the registration of residents of those cities. All courses are free.
"The people who signed up previously with SETRAS do not need to register again because their names continue on the roles and will be considered for the positions," said Fernando Costa, of SENAI in Eunápolis. "The training is not only designed for people with experience. Even those who never worked before will be placed within their levels. The courses will be taught in the nine cities where the candidates come from, to avoid the need for them to travel to Eunápolis," he added.
The training process to fill the job quotas will be handled by SETRAS, which will communicate directly with those who have been selected about the dates and locations of the courses. The training will last between 60 to 120 class/hours. Hiring of approved professionals will be carried out on a gradual basis, inconsonance with the project's construction timetable.
