Veracel Institute makes dental equipment available for Eunápolis - 10.05.04
The Veracel Institute has made available six mobile dental clinics to allow the Eunápolis municipal government to provide care for students in the Little Seed and To Be a Child programs in the city as well as in underprivileged neighborhoods where dental treatment is scarce.
Veracel rented the equipment to the city for the symbolic amount of R$ 1.00 per month. The city government is responsible for coordinating the services of the clinics, their installation, operation and maintenance along with the supply of consumables and the human resources necessary for the work.
Each clinic consists of a metal container for transportation, a folding dental chair, reflector, suction unit for blood and saliva, acompressor and other items. The company also supplied and electrical generator for use in areas where there is no power.
Each month the city government must prepare a report regarding the services carried out through this agreement. At least once every three months, meetings will be held with the dental professionals and technical personnel of each government agency involved to partially evaluate the work in terms of benefits to the community. "The project's social gains on behalf of the communities will be appraised during the meetings," explained Ricardo Santos, manager of institutional relations for Veracel. He added that in the next few months the project will be extended to all of the municipalities in the company's area of influence.
