President Lula visits Veracel January 21 - 01.20.05
Veracel received the visit of Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva on January 21, 2005. Before going to the pulp mill construction project, the president flew over the district of Barrolândia, in Belmonte, located 18 km from the mill site, to view the environmental sanitatiuon projects that Veracel is building in the community.
Among other authorities attending the visit to the mill as the Governor of Bahia, Paulo Souto, the Minister of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade, Luiz Fernando Furlan and representatives of Veracel’s shareholders - Aracruz Celulose and StoraEnso.
The president conversed with the shareholders, visited some of the project’s most important sites and participated in a reception for 300 persons.
Also on hand were 50 workers chosen from the outsourced construction companies and Veracel staff.
