Mayors from Rio Grande do Sul Visit Veracel

fotoLed by State Representative Berfran Rosado, a group made up by mayors, vice-mayors, secretaries and association chairmen from 12 Rio Grande do Sul municipalities where Aracruz and Stora Enso have eucalyptus plantations, visited Veracel on April 7. Enthused with the environmental care and practices that Veracel adopts for its industrial and forest activities, visitors expressed their interest in supporting both companies' activities in their state.

Visitors also expressed their enthusiasm in implementing in their municipalities forest partnership programs that are similar to those in southern Bahia. For Rosado, who coordinates the Pro-Foresting Front from the State Legislative Assembly of the State of Rio Grande do Sul, the visit was important to actually see how a modern pulp industry is run, how a forest is managed, and how important environmental management and care to maintain and recover the native forest are.

This is the second visit to Veracel that authorities from southern regions where Aracruz and Stora Enso operate made. Recently, three governors from Uruguayan provinces also visited Bahia to know Veracel.
