Theater piece commemorates Children's Week in the communities

fotoChildren in communities near to Veracel Celulose were treated to a week of fun, culture and entertainment in October, in commemoration of Children's Week. To celebrate, the company put on a theater show ("Encanto dos Cantos") in public spaces in the municipalities of Belmonte, Barrolândia, Ponto Central, Itapebi, Itagimirim, Eunápolis and Porto Seguro, from October 9-12.

Entitled "Theater with Popcorn," the event joined together adults and kids, offering them a virtual trip through Brazilian culture. The Cia. de Teatro Cena Hum theater troupe directed by Humberto Gomes staged the spectacle, which presented legends and stories from all regions of Brazil.

For many of the children, it was the first time they had ever seen a theater presentation, which was an emotional experience for the director. "I was very gratified to see how much the children enjoyed themselves. The teachers who accompanied the students took notes so that they could discuss the experience back in the schoolroom," Gomes noted.

Young children's education teacher in Belmonte, Valdirene de Jesus, adored the present. "Veracel got it exactly right, because we need to find new ways to attract and teach the kids. Culture is very good and the players can't imagine how much good they did for our children," she said.

School employee Cleide Silva Mattos of Belmonte agreed Ms. de Jesus. "The children were in the need of culture and we have to get it to them. Our schools do not always have the possibility of putting on fun but high quality activities," she noted.

Magic

For the children, the piece was more than a present - it was the beginning of a relationship with art. "I liked it a lot, it was very good! We thought the stories were good fun and the muic was great. It was quite different," said Bruno Santiago, 10, of Belmonte.

Also enchanted with the event was Miquéli Costa Santana, 6, who was conquered by the show. "I liked everything! I've never seen anything so beautiful.," she said, after hugging the cast.

Pure fun

In Porto Seguro, the children also had fun at the spectacle. For Pedro Fabiano, 9, the show was a nice surprise. "I was watching television when I heard the music and an invitation to come out and watch the play. When I left my home and saw those people in costume singing, I ran to see what was going on," he said.
