Sustentabilidade

The integration of environmental issues with the management of the company orients our environmental awareness and education programs aimed at in-house and outside audiences.

The main in-house environmental education actions are focused on the environmental management system, with programs that involve our own and outsourced workers.

For the CERFLOR certification process, for example, we organized the training of about 2,300 persons during 2004 in order to ensure that the sustainable forestry management rules were assimilated and put into practice. We also ran in-house educational campaigns, with the support of different means of communication, regarding the rational use of water, selective waste collection and other important environmental topics.

Moreover, we continued to run an on-going program of public visits to the Veracruz Station, open to students, tourists, employees and members of their families, involving trail walks and lectures. The objective is to disseminate concepts about preservation of the Atlantic Forest.
