The RPPN Estação Veracel – Private Reserve of Natural Heritage is an iconic effort of biodiversity conservation. Our motivation and pride are renewed with each new record of fauna and flora rarities at the RPPN Estação Veracel. It is also an important platform for dialogue with society and an environmental education reference in conservation units.
For all these reasons, we are protagonists in institutional articulation to make the connection between the RPPN Estação Veracel and Pau Brasil National Park feasible, including forest restoration activities in 40 hectares. The connected areas can create a super fragment of 25,000 hectares of Rain Forest.
In 2019, we implemented Bird Observatory at the RPPN Estação Veracel. The goal is promoting the development of scientific knowledge, education and environmental awareness aimed at conservation of one of the most threatened regions of the Rain Forest with the richest biodiversity. The research initiatives include the monitoring of nests and endangered birds, inventory by census and ringing of species.
The RPPN Estação Veracel uses camera traps to record images of wild animals with minimal interference in their routine. The cameras have motion sensors that are activated by the presence of animals. The images captured by the camera are included in a database about wild animal population circulating in the reserve. That was we have recorded many rare animals in the wild.
